HW 3 P1b

In part (b) we are supposed to plot the magnitudes of ZN, ZD, and Resr. So far, so good. But there are two questions about how Resr affects the transfer function. I am not sure how plotting Resr is helpful to answer the questions. It seems like Gnew(s) needs to be plotted. Is this the case or are we to answer these questions based on expressions for f0, Q, etc. derived in part (a) which contain Resr? Thanks.

  1. I agree... it seems that Gnew vs Gold is much more useful in showing what esr does, especially since Zd and Zn do not have esr in them...

My question is what is considered "significant"? Seems subjective to me.

  2. Hi,
It wasn't emphasized in the initial EET lecture, but in the last lecture, and more so in textbook section 10.2.2, the extra element impedance is compared directly to Z_N and Z_D. Then conclusions are made as to at what frequencies the EET correction factor will significantly change G_old. For our problem, we know that R_esr causes Q to go down and a zero appears. So we can look at our EE impedance and see when the inequalities in equation 10.13 are satisfied.
